Winery Visit – Silver Vines Winery

What happens when you combine the skills and expertise of two brothers?? You get Silver Vines Winery! Brothers, Danny and Jeff Chayer blended their business and marketing knowledge (Danny) and their oenology and viticulture skills (Jeff) and formed the newest winery along the Front Range. So how did two guys from Minnesota and then Texas come to Colorado? They googled old town historic districts and discovered Arvada’s Olde Town area and charm with a vacant building just waiting for them. Danny and Jeff began their operation in 2011, but it was really in June, 2012 that they established their new tasting room.

The tasting room is open 7 days per week…for hours click here. In addition to sampling their wines, join them on a Friday or Saturday night for live music. You can also rent out their tasting room for private events, such as wedding showers, rehearsal dinners or small parties.

But lets talk wine… Silver Vines currently has 10 varieties available. Their whites include Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling and Rocky White, which is a sweet white wine made from French Columbard grapes. Their reds include Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah. They have 2 blends – Grandview Reserve and Rocky Red, which is a sweet red wine. Their dessert wine is called Chocolate Delight, which is 100% Zinfandel….yum!!!

I had the opportunity to taste their Pinot Grigio, which is  crisp and refreshing. The Grandview Reserve is a delicious blend of Syrah, Cab and Merlot, with great fruits and medium tannins. They are currently aging their first wines from Colorado grapes, which will be ready for release in 2014.

Take a visit to Olde Town Arvada and stop in at Silver Vines Winery, you will be glad you did, as Danny and Jeff will make you feel very welcomed!
