My book appears on Channel 7 News

June 6, 2012 was an exciting day for Exploring Colorado Wineries guidebook! The book and three bottles of wine made their own appearance on Channel 7 News. The wines were from Balistreri Vineyards, Boulder Creek Winery and Creekside Cellars.

Pat Miller, aka The Gabby Gourmet, who endorsed my book has a Wednesday segment with Bertha Lynn on Channel 7 News. Gabby, who normally reviews restaurants, featured cookbooks on her June 6 segment and asked if Exploring Colorado Wineries would like to be included….YES!!!

I took several pictures in the newsroom (see below). If you haven’t been in a TV studio, its very interesting and exciting. Years ago they used to have cameramen, now everything is controlled by the producer. The picture that is mostly green is not my poor picture taking, but the infamous “green screen” that the weather person stands in front of as the producer displays the maps, etc. You can also see me on a teleprompter and the display of the book and wines, and of course there is Mitch Jelniker and Bertha Lynn on the set doing the news.

Winery Visit – Creekside Cellars

Looking for a new place to visit for lunch or to taste some delicious wines?? Creekside Cellars in Evergreen is the place! Open daily between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Creekside offers an array of possibilities…from their ever-changing  lunch menu to their  appetizer and wine pairings to just stopping by their Tasting Room for a sampling of their wines. Creekside is located in downtown Evergreen along Bear Creek. You can sit inside or on their patio where you can listen to the sounds of the creek.

I was fortunate to spend a few hours with winemaker Michelle Cleveland. We first toured her winemaking facility where she has been crafting wines for Creekside since 2005…and doing an incredible job! Michelle incorporates a blend of Old World and New World into her wines to bring out the fruit of the wine and oak nuances. While I enjoyed EVERY wine I tasted, I particularly liked her red blend – Rosso – a blend of Cab, Merlot and Cinsault.

Creekside’s menu is perfect for anyone…for those meat lovers to vegans… and is reasonably priced. Michelle and Irene (Executive Chef) have put together an assortment of food and wine pairings. We had a pate appetizer (fish, veggie and meat pate with accoutrements) with a 3-wine flight and a cheese tray with a Bordeaux wine flight. Creekside makes it easy for you to remember which wine is which, as each glass is marked for you!

A stop at Creekside during any season is recommended….whether you want to visit for the afternoon, stop by after a summer hike or bike ride or during the winter after ice skating on Evergreen Lake.
